As a second chapter within that extended project that represents "What is, is what has been" takes shape "Cartography of freedom (Prison, economy and freedom)". In this stage, Reynier Leyva Novo examines discursively and historically the concept of freedom from the multiple enclave of the Cuban nation. The mapping praxis functions here as a sort of open question, the crisis of the officialist model of history, a mythology where civil and political rights are deliberately omitted from the set of meanings associated with the signifier freedom. El Novo not only disarranges the hierarchical order of the voices that graph these other writings -the people as a homogeneous construct vs. the citizen subject of rights; the institutional narrative vs. the individual memory-, but also enters the emptied and instrumental territory of the post 59 Cuban regime.
