The exhibition project "Criaturas de Isla" (Island Creatures) stands as a fragmented and diverse mosaic of the Cuban national, insular, human physiognomy. Mostly based on portraits, the show compiles a significant number of faces, figures, people of all kinds who defy the camera, hold their gaze, reveal themselves without concealment. The time span of these works will be interwoven from the stage of the so-called "Cuban Special Period", in the late eighties and early nineties, and extends until 2015. Alom spans more than twenty-five years with the unpostponable obsession of capturing the intimacy (as a sphere of greater frankness and freedom) of the Cuban being. Hence, the presence of children, the elderly, the young: the common people that make up the nation, anonymous people. It is, in any case, a project open to difference, which bets on it and validates it. A personal gesture of conciliation.
