EQUELECÚA takes its title from a Caribbean expression-used in Puerto Rico and Cuba-that alludes to that moment in which something fits, acquires resounding meaning and is at its ideal point; a popular adaptation derived from the Italian eccolo qua, “here it is”. This exhibition brings together works whose languages explore different forms of cultural precision, symbolic resonance and aesthetic attunement. EQUELECÚA presents a group of artists from Embajada's roster, and is a collaboration that aims to celebrate shared affinities between territories, communities, artists and modes of visual thought with El Apartamento. Thus, each work becomes an “equelecuá” in itself: evidence that there are moments where everything coincides with accuracy and strength.

Embajada is a contemporary art gallery founded in 2015 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, by Christopher Paz Rivera and Manuela Paz. Since its inception, it has established itself as an independent platform dedicated to supporting and making visible a diverse generation of Caribbean, Latin American and Diaspora artists, articulating a curatorial program that combines formal experimentation, critical thinking and a constant attention to local contexts.

For yet another year, our gallery offers the Madrid public an exhibition that emphasizes relevant artistic phenomena from Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition to this exhibition in our Project Room, Embajada participates in ARCOMadrid 2026.
