Roc\u00edo Garc\u00eda es una de las artistas m\u00e1s relevantes dentro de la tradici\u00f3n pict\u00f3rica contempor\u00e1nea en la isla. Su obra, que constituye una especie de \u00abrara avis\u00bb en el contexto cubano, hace un uso singular del color y desarrolla su estilo lleno de expresividad y misterio.<\/p>

Su formaci\u00f3n como pintora est\u00e1 atravesada por dos escuelas fundamentales. Por un lado, la cubana, donde finaliz\u00f3 estudios de grado medio en 1975, en la Academia San Alejandro de La Habana; por otro, la experiencia rusa \u2014gracias a la beca obtenida en la Academia de Bellas Artes \u201cRepin\u201d de San Petersburgo\u2014. Ambas tradiciones pict\u00f3ricas fueron esenciales en la articulaci\u00f3n de una obra muy personal en la que confluyen el uso expresivo y simb\u00f3lico del color, la contundente sencillez del dibujo y la creaci\u00f3n teatral de marcado contenido narrativo. La uni\u00f3n de estos elementos, junto con los temas preferidos por el artista (en muchos casos de filiaci\u00f3n homoer\u00f3tica), catalizan en lienzos como escenas enigm\u00e1ticas, momentos en los que los personajes son sorprendidos en la intimidad. Su obra remite a la l\u00f3gica cinematogr\u00e1fica, en la que una idea se cierra sobre s\u00ed misma a partir del componente secuencial.<\/p>

Su trayectoria como pintora tiene una solidez innegable, basada no s\u00f3lo en la cantidad de exposiciones individuales y colectivas que ha desarrollado, sino tambi\u00e9n en los eventos relevantes en los que ha participado y en las colecciones a las que pertenece.
