lingua taino. Nell'universo Taino, si riferiva allo spazio in cui la natura \u00e8 solitamente selvaggia, abbondante, esuberante e talvolta impenetrabile. Il termine sarebbe anche attribuito a un insieme di credenze soprannaturali. Nella sua accezione culturale, manigua \u00e8 rito, sincretismo e mito; manigua \u00e8 ribellione e libert\u00e0. In questo spazio, i primi coloni svilupparono la loro vita quotidiana, e pi\u00f9 tardi gli schiavi africani avrebbero ricordato le credenze religiose del loro popolo. In entrambi i casi, la natura \u00e8 stata assunta da un punto di vista spirituale, e sia i cimiteri che i santi avrebbero trovato in essa un habitat perfetto. Durante le guerre, la manigua fungeva da rifugio e le sue conoscenze venivano utilizzate per curare i feriti.
