José Bedia’s work blends his tribal and ethnographic interests, employing a fieldwork approach and incorporating layers of social and historical elements from many traditions around the world. As part of his artistic practice, he spends extended periods of time living among indigenous cultures in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Drawing on his interactions and experiences with these traditional cultures, he returns to his studio to create, while continuing to explore his quest for humanity’s enduring archetypes.
