The Apartment, Havana
#elsonidoandlafuria has the appearance of being a puerile and incoherent babble that produces overwhelm, bewilderment and even an unintelligible sadness. Most of the works, made between 2019 and 2022 during the Covid-19 pandemic, coexist with others from 2014 and 2016. Their starting point is the Cuban context, which they inhabit and define from the twists and turns of a heterogeneous and contradictory human experience, sometimes full of misunderstandings, horror, violence, idleness, loneliness, frustration, alienation, escape; but also of beauty, desire, illusion, nostalgia, sex, courage and thirst for justice. The conjuration and the (dis)breath of living in the face of ambition and unlimited passion for success, money, fame, power...; perhaps the greatest of aphrodisiacs. From this transit that is, above all, struggle, emerges the sound that is noise and also fury: the din and the fierce energy that dominates human pain and passion. In the nape of the neck, as an incentive and a hindrance, the immutable breath, slight but constant, of the anguish that anticipates our decadence and extinction.
