The Libertad series is a continuation of the "povera" work developed by Roberto Diago in his previous work. In this opportunity, the artist uses more common and domestic materials such as wood, but also incorporates bronze, a metal associated with the tradition of western sculpture. By assembling or casting, Diago revisits the history of the black man in the context of contemporary societies. These are people marked by exclusion and a history of constant marginalization. In a way, the pieces function as emancipatory devices that the artist activates from his personal narrative.
