The curse of the West corner house
2022,
Action-installation (10 collages, mock-up, reproduction of 1 million Cuban pesos from the 1960s)

In the style of the cursed houses in B-movies, this project uses the recent sale of my family's house in Havana, Cuba, as material for analysis. I turn our stay in that house into a metaphor for the Revolution we are trying to be part of. The current crisis in Cuba made selling the house the only possible way out for my family. During the years we lived in the house, we found hidden about 1,000,000 pesos signed by Che Guevara as president of the National Bank of Cuba. By the time we found it, this money was worthless. A series of 10 collages tell the story of our family, our connection to the leaders of the revolution, my formation as a political artist and the finding of the expired money.
