Adiós España
2023,
Installation (Painting, video, photography, 11 non-functional replicas of contemporary weapons)

Thanks to Núria Güell, Luis Gómez and the Collective "Todo por La Praxis".

The need for a weapon appears in the face of the frustration of not being able to please or fulfill the patriarchal legacy. I have lived in Spain for fifteen years and I am currently moving back to Havana, "Goodbye Spain" is a project that works as a farewell. I am interested in creating a disturbing, cinematographic, playful, almost childish image, but with multiple conceptual layers that review the social and cultural constructions of masculinity; the strong, violent man, provider and successful father. But also to review the passive violence that cultural policy applies to artists. The project is composed of six elements that as fragments build and activate a narrative. The center of the project is my collection of reproductions of the personal weapons of political leaders and Hollywood actors; a painting of the first weapon in history, the weapon with which Cain killed Abel; a selection of images of the gun holders of famous politicians; a three-channel video in which the relationship of the patriarchs of my family with weapons is told; and the last element is the viewers' own interaction with my collection of weapons.

Note: The guns that are part of my collection are non-functional replicas, so they are completely legal and are not a danger.
