The working methodology applied in the series Cartografía total stems from transposing elements of science into the field of art. Their practice is driven by an obsession with fundamental issues shaping contemporary societies: the planet's environmental health, the balance of social formations, human movement, and the diverse dynamics that define it, among others. Statistics play a decisive role in their investigations. In many cases, their starting point is a specific statistical source; however, in their most recent artistic projects they have conducted fieldwork and generated their own data, the result of direct observation. These statistics then shape the works, determining them both formally and conceptually. They conceive their works as landscapes, drawing directly on the concept outlined by theorist Rosalind Krauss in her reflections on the expanded field of sculpture. For them, these landscapes are, in fact, an exercise in total cartography, where priority is given to the documentation and the physical as well as symbolic inscription of specific events at the intersection of the biological, the social, and the cultural.
