Contino’s practice is among the most singular in the new generation of Cuban artists. Despite sharing thematic interests with many of her contemporaries, the ceremonial nature of her gaze and her steadfast commitment to handcut paper place her outside conventional groupings and national creative genealogies.
With more than a decade of sustained work, Ariamna has steadily consolidated her career within the Cuban art scene. Her participation in major international events such as the Venice Biennial and the Havana Biennial, as well as the exhibition of her work in museums and institutions in several countries—including the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (MNBA), Cuba; the Museum of Concrete Art, Ingolstadt, Germany; and the Museum of the Americas, USA—attest to the strength of her trajectory.
